Kenting Trip

So our group went to southern Taiwan. We did many things down there, such as going to the beach. Making a different kind of tea, seeing temples,  going to museums, and having a good time with friends.
The Banana Museum.
This museum was all about bananas. I am lifting a heavy 100 pound basket to represent the bananas that the people have to carry.

This is another tea shop that we went to. We had to grind up the materials for the tea this time. It took a lot of arm muscles, (that I do not have) to grind up this material to put it in your cup for tea.

Vivian,  a Taiwan student coordinator poses with me. I am wearing a traditional outfit warn by the people of this area.

We are all posing for a selfie at lunch. The food here was really good, and I am glad that I was able to eat more traditional Taiwanese food.

This was a very nice museum that we went to. It showed different tools and artifacts of the traditional people of the area. I love how they make everything look very pretty, by making a pond in the front yard area of the museum.

I love this picture, because on the left side of the highway are the blue mountains pictured above, and on the right side is the beautiful ocean.

This is one of the Temples we visited. It is a Confucius temple. The art work and way of worship is very pretty. This is an actual temple that people worshiped in, I was able to see more traditional ways of worship here.

I am taking a selfie at the beach. The pacific ocean still tops to be my favorite ocean I have ever been to, but now I have been to both sides and the middle of the pacific ocean! I love the beach, and my favorite part of the beach was sunbathing!

Over many doors, there is this decoration or mirrors, this is to keep the ghosts and evil spirits away and out of the person's home.

One thing we did while on this trip was Garden! We harvested green beans! I went barefoot in the mud to pick green beans, and they had cool paths in between them to walk as well.

While picking green beans there was this huge snail that was slowly making his way around. This was very cool to see this guy up close.

This is a traditional way of eating dinner. Putting all of the food on a spin table and you pick and grab your food as the food spins by you. I tried duck and it was really good! Many of the vegetables are my favorite type of food here! And rice is getting old fast! haha

I am doing some origami here in this picture. the traditional people do this, and it was influenced by when the Japanese owned Taiwan.

This is a very simple breakfast. Rolls, tomatoes, the beans we picked the other night, and Hot black tea or Hot soymilk. It was a very good breakfast. I learned that I really like Hot Soymilk.

This is looking into the ocean from the shore. I climbed on these rocks, close by my hotel. This was a fun path next to the ocean that was very empty of people and a nice calm area to relax.

These are two of my Asian buddies, Ryan and Benson. They are pretty cool guys! I am glad to make friends in a different country and hopefully we will be friends forever!

This was the hotel we stayed at. It was very 'temple' like, but the rooms were very nice and everything was westernized, including the toilet and showers!

I had a fun time on this trip and I am glad that I was able to enjoy some new things out of the experience as well. This was mostly what I did the whole time last week. 5 days! Hopefuly should post more soon!
